Here’s how to find all the Lucent Moth’s in Savathun’s Throne World

Destiny 2 The Witch Queen Lucent Moths guide Image: Bungie

Destiny 2: The Witch Queen’s new Savathun’s Throne World location is filled with secrets. Some of them are hard to find, or even require upgrades to Fynch, the planetary vendor. Some of the earlier secrets you can grab in Savathun’s Throne World are the Lucent Moths, which are little collectibles that you can place in the cave next to Fynch. They also give a ton of Fynch reputation, which will be great for quickly increasing his level.

You’ll need to collect all 10 Lucent Moths for the Lucent Tales book and the Lepidopterist Triumph, required for the Gumshoe Seal.

In this Destiny 2 guide, we’ll show you how to find all the Lucent Moths in Destiny 2: The Witch Queen.

Lucent Moth in the Quagmire

The first Lucent Moth is very easy to find, and it’s entirely possible to stumble on it accidentally during your early adventures in the new location.

Just above the “E” in “Quagmire” on the map, there’s an underbelly cave where a host of Hive spawn. In the corner, there’s a big green shield hiding something. Kill all the Hive that spawn when you enter the area and the shield will disappear.

Tucked up against the wall is your first little moth friend. Pick it up, take it back to the cave next to Fynch, and place it.

Lucent Moth in the Apothecary

The second Lucent Moth is a real trek, the exact opposite of the first.

Follow the path in Quagmire through the Alluring Curtain area and the Apothecary. If you’ve done “The Last Chance” mission in the campaign, it’s the same route on the outside of the castle.

Keep going until “Apothecary” pops up on your screen.

Move forward until you’re on a wide balcony overlooking the even larger castle/cathedral area. There are two sides to this balcony, each with their own turret bases. Run through the first turret, past the stairs to the cathedral, and to the second turret area. Jump up on the second turret.

If you don’t see a Deepsight node here, you’ll need to turn around until you load into Alluring Curtain and then come back to Apothecary.

Once you find the Deepsight node on the turret, activate it and look around for Hive runes attached to the base. Find and destroy all of the runes within 30 seconds and your second Lucent Moth pal will appear on the turret. Grab it and take it back to Fynch.

Lucent Moth in the Alluring Curtain

The Lucent Moth in the Alluring Curtain is on the way to the one in the Apothecary. If you haven’t gotten the Apothecary one yet, you can grab two moths in one lengthy trip. And if you’ve already grabbed that one, hey, at least you know where you’re going.

Start from Fynch in Quagmire and move around the castle to the right, like you did in the penultimate story mission for The Witch Queen. Follow the path toward the Apothecary and you’ll come across a Hive Wizard in the fountain area. It’s called Ir Olena, Moth Keeper. As explained in its title, it’s keeping your moth from you. Kill it and the moth will appear on its body.

Take the moth back to Fynch’s cave.

Lucent Moth in the Temple of Cunning

The Temple of Cunning is a real trek, but you’ve been here before, in The Witch Queen campaign. Take the path from Quagmire into the depths of the Throne World and past the Temple of Wrath. The the portal to your right and then hang a left in the green Scorn area. Eventually you’ll come across a weird room with a big plate in the middle. The Lucent Moth is on the pillar to your left. Grab it.

Lucent Moth in the Temple of the Wrathful

The Temple of the Wrathful is a long trek deep into the Quagmire zone, but there’s a shortcut.

Go to the north part of Quagmire and look for a cave that leads into the Throne World. Follow it and you’ll reach the opening of the Temple of the Wrathful pretty quickly. Go through the dark until you reach a room filled with Scorn. Run to your right and hop in the portal.

When you pop out the other side, you’ll see the Lucent Moth sitting on a ledge to your right. Kill the Scorn guarding it and pick the moth up.

Lucent Moth in Miasma

Miasma is a big zone, so this moth can be a little tricky to find.

At the north end of the map, near the sunken tower, look up and you’ll see the Lucent Moth in the tree. Jump up there (it may take a few tries) and grab your moth buddy off of one of the branches.

Lucent Moth in Witch’s Echo

The Lucent Moth in the Witch’s Echo is a bit hidden compared to the others, especially since Witch’s Echo doesn’t appear on the map.

First, head to the Miasma area and look for the sunken fortress to the north, where you went down to access Savathun’s memories during the campaign. Follow the tunnel but ignore the portal. Keep following the path for a while until you come to a small, green room with Scorn in it.

You’ll see a Deepsight node to the right. Activate it and turn around. You’ll see the moth sitting on the floor.

If you make it to the Temple of the Wrathful area, you’ve gone to far and need to go back a bit.

Once you have the Moth, head back to Fynch’s cave to place it.

Lucent Moth in Court of Thorns

This Lucent Moth isn’t accessible in Patrol without some seriously impressive platforming (including the Salvation's Grip grenade launcher). The best and easiest way to get it is to the do the Wellspring activity.

If you’re on a defend day, the Moth will be in the hands of a Hive statue in the room on your left (facing the door the Scorn are attacking from) immediately after you load in. It’s the same room when you’re attacking (and the same statue), but it’ll be on your right when you come in the boss room.

Because you start adjacent to the room your spawn in, it’s easiest to grab on defend days.

Grab it and take it back to Fynch’s cave.

Lucent Moth in Florescent Canal

The Lucent Moth in the Florescent Canal is one of the easiest to grab, but it can be tough to spot. Thankfully, we can tell you exactly where it is.

Head to the middle of the zone until you reach the various fountains that lead to Savathun’s castle — the Court of Thorns. On the lower fountains, you’ll find a bunch of Thrall statues with flowers coming out of their mouths. Floating around the statues, in a little plate, is the moth you’re looking for.

Grab it, and head back to Fynch.

Lucent Moth in Altar of Reflection

To get the Lucent Moth in the Altar of Reflection, you’ll need to launch one of the various “Altar of Reflection” missions from the Throneworld map.

Once inside, solve the symbol puzzle and make your way into the combat chamber. Don't disturb the Acolytes in the middle, or you’ll start the fight and need to kill everything.

Look for a Deepsight node up and to your right, on the balcony. Grab it, and look toward the door you came in. You’ll see some platforms here. Jump across them, and look up at the platform above the door. You’ll see the moth sitting on the overhang.

Jump over, grab the moth, and take it back to Fynch’s cave to complete your set.
